Dr. Jean's Encouraging Words and Ideas!

Dr. Jean just delivered the keynote at the national I Teach K conference in Vegas!  She was absolutely uplifting!  Her overall idea was to bring back some happiness into the classroom.  She reminds us that when all else fails, just sing and dance and get yourself in the right frame of mind!  In today's world of teaching, it is our job as teachers to provide that balance!  Your grade may be the only grade they ever love, so make it count!   Here's a few ideas I walked away with:
  * "Hocus Lopus everyone focus"
  *  Ask wiggly kids to show you your space... puts them in control of their space.  (Never thought of that!)
  *  Greet your kids in different ways.  Thumb kiss- touch thumbs and,make a kiss sound.  (Her website has a video, check out the Milk the Cow, hilarious!)
  *Tooty Tah with letter sounds... Mooty Mah!  And all the educational objectives are amazing!
  * "Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Good Job.  Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Sit Down."
  * Having a Letter SuperVisor.  (Velcro the letter or word to a visor.)  This student can high five the letter sound with others as they walk out the door, etc.)
  *Many cheers, Go Banana's is so fun. Walk-Amole, Walk,Walk,Amole!  Must see video on her site!
  * And to always ask your kids to come back tomorrow!
Like I said, her website has a world of information on it... family involvement, finger plays, videos, and free lyrics to her songs!  I can't wait to check it out!
Let's all create some happiness today!
